6809 Activity 2

The Road Not Taken—Robert Frost

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.”

Sometimes we have to make decisions in our lives that might be difficult and decisions that require an action that is not the norm.  But being independent and taking chances can provide you with a sense of self-identity and confidence that may lead to an unexpected but rewarding outcome.

The Bible

Romans 8:28-- And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

I was raised as a Baptist and I try to live everyday with this particular verse in mind.  Every dilemma and heartbreak will eventually lead to something good.  We need to learn from our mistakes to become a better person.

The Help— Kathryn Stockett

Preacher Green:  If you can love your enemy, you already have victory.

This book provided an insight to what is was like during segregation.  Sometimes it just takes one person to cause a spark that can start a revolution.  People need to stand up for what they believe and be a leader and not a follower. You are not going to get anywhere in life with hate in your heart.

  3. I've read "The Help" and have seen the movie. The Help instills the importance of being courageous. After reading all three of your literacy posts, it seems that you are kind-hearted and value the importance of being confident, and treating others with respect.

  8. #1 I agree with you that often times it is not easy to know which path we should take.

#2 The verse from the bible is a wonderful example of how we need to learn from our life experiences.

#3 The point that this movie makes changes lives. My adopeted son is mixed race and I have experience racisim first hand. We need more people that are willing to take a stand. Great movie!
